Thank you, McFarland, for providing this book for review consideration in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Mr. Book just finished 3,000: Baseball’s Elite Clubs for Hits and Strikeouts, by Douglas J. Jordan.

This book was published in November 2024.

This book was about the members of the 3,000 hit and strikeout clubs. Rather than provide bios on each player, the author tried to draw links between them. For example, there were chapters on what teams they did it, what decades they were born in, what stadiums, what pitcher or batter they were facing and so on.

There were occassional stories about the players and occassional analysis, but mostly much of the book seemed to be the author straining to make a point. The book would have worked much better if it was just bios of the players, even if it would have had to have been two different volumes.

I give this book a C.

Goodreads requires grades on a 1-5 star system. In my personal conversion system, a C equates to 2 stars. (A or A+: 5 stars, B+: 4 stars, B: 3 stars, C: 2 stars, D or F: 1 star).
